About a year ago, my husband was driving our Mini and the stick got stuck in 2nd gear. We pulled over, had the car towed to a shop but when they looked at it, it was fine. No problems with the stick shift. It shifted fine and has for the past year.

Yesterday, I shifted into reverse and backed out of our driveway but then had a difficult time getting it out of reverse and then couldn't get it to shift into first. I ended up pushing it to the curb and taking my husband's car. He tried again later an hour or so later and it still wasn't working. We left it on the side of the road overnight.

Today I went out to try it again and, while a little sticky, I was able to shift it into reverse and then shift it into first to get it back into the garage.

Not sure what the issue is here. We are in AZ and both times this happened during the hot summer temperatures so I'm assuming it can't be a temperature issue. Any thoughts? I'm worried about taking it out and having it further away from home and having it not shift properly again.
