carbon and n 18 engines

Has there been any issues with cordon build up in N 18 engines? I have been lead to believe that the problem does not exist in the N 18.

Thanks

It's still relevant but reduced compared to the N14.

It's still out there and it's going to get you. Not even a catch can save the N18 from carbon buildup mua ha ha ha ha

The N18 is still pretty knew so time will tell how bad it is compared to the N14. But the real question is how much oil can a catch can catch if a catch can can catch oil?

Imo, get a catchcan, and mount it in a COOL place....
Some folks do regular "seafoam" treatments through a vac line to get the deposits cleaned BEFORE thaey can get overly baked on....
But for most DI motors, carbon issues is a fact of life....some new desgin...things like adding a 5th fuel injector to the intake to add a small amount of fuel to keep the intake valves clean are likly addons for next gen DI motors from various manufactures.....
rhat having been said, the n18 seems to be a bit better for carbon...
good enough to get to the end of the warrenty period before a cleaning is needed....just kinda, passes tge buck imo....but that is another story.

PCV gasses cause they cause issues when the hot gasses condense...usually onto the valves, and then baked. The trick is to cool the gases, and condense them out...into a catch can....not mounted next to a blazing hot turbo or exaust.
On a gen1, behind the plastic inner firewall, and the steel firewall on the pax side, by the abs/dsc brake controler(not sure the actual name, but when you see the lines, it is easy to figure out what it is). Lots of space, airflow, and easy to get too on a gen1.
on a gen2, sure you can find a good place!!
