Transmission Problems... T.T

2006 Mini Cooper S R53

The problem started when I was driving into a driveway. I put it into reverse and the gear started sticking. Since then, i've been having trouble putting the shifter into gears(sometimes...). When I accelerate, it takes a little while for the car to get going. The engaging point on the clutch changes constantly now. It goes from usually being higher up to right when I start lifting my foot off the clutch. I also noticed the car sometimes rolling forward when the clutch is fully engaged. I sometimes hear a spinning noise when the clutch is fulling engaged.

So I did some searching and was hoping it was the slave cylinder. I replaced the slave cylinder today and replaced the fluid. When I took the car out of the shop i noticed that the shifting was smoother, but the first eighth of the clutch pedal was loose when engaging the clutch. On the drive home i still noticed the occasional grinding/spinning noise when the clutch was fully engaged. On some of the starts on the way home the shifter was not going into gear anymore. I tried pumping the clutch and forcing it in.

WTH is the problem? master cylinder? clutch & flywheel? throwout bearing? new car?

sorry for the bad grammar my mind is everywhere right now...

*The gear also got stuck in gear on the way home!*
**I also hear a click when stepping on the clutch when the car is off*
***The gears and clutch move fine when the car is off***

it could be a through out bearing problem. i have a similar issue in my rx7 right now i have fluid leak and cant find where its coming from. and i dont want to just through new parts at it. even though a new slave and master cylinder wouldn't be over 50 new. but i only have this problem when my fluid runs low.

so its either TO bearing or master cylinder. check the master first because its the easiest to change/get to. probably the cheapest too. this is defiantly a problem of the clutch not full disengaging.

it definitely sounds like the clutch is not fully engaging. I don't want to accept the fact that I might have to change my clutch/flywheel. T.T

how many miles do you have? and its disengaging, you dont want to change gears when the clutch is in contact with the flywheel you wont have a very happy transmission

engaged is when your foot is off pedal
disengaged is when your foot is on pedal

I have 68,000 miles. Oops haha disengaged* I probably have been changing gears when the clutch and flywheel have been in contact. :( I have to force the hell out of the shifter to get into gear even when i'm holding down on the clutch all the way...

Kevin I have found (as have others) that the slave cylinder can be tough to bleed thoroughly. (I also think those plastic slave cylinders are crap). If you have to pump it several times to work up pressure to disengage it sounds like there is air in the line or the Master Cylinder is failing. You said it slips while engaged, too?

The clutch doesn't really slip. It sticks sometimes... I took it to the shop to check if it was bled correctly. My mechanic(that i trust) told me the shaft that pushes the slave cylinder in is stuck and he can't get it loose. Just wondering what it could be in the clutch system... either way i'm probably going to have to replace the clutch/flywheel. -______-"

Does anyone know what tool the dealers use to hold the engine/transmission in place? The mechanic isn't comfortable using jacks to hold everything up.

the lever thing that pushes in the slave cylinder is stuck. I replaced the slave cylinder already. It's something passed the slave cylinder. Something in the clutch/flywheel or transmission T.T
