And, if I put my hand on the unibody where the stut bolts to, where the metal ridge sticks up, I can feel the vibration from the sqeaking noise.

What is causing that squeaking?

 

Sounds like a bad strut mount. Common failure on these cars.

 

Yeah, I looked at them. They are broke on both sides. Does anyone make better ones?

 

Genuine BMW MINI, OE suppliers Lemfoerder/Sachs/Boge(all 3 under same ZF umbrella) or fixed/adjustable aftermarket camber plates are your options. Make sure you check, fix & reinforce those strut towers along the way....then get an alignment.

 

So with the top mounts being broken, it's time to change them and the struts. If it's time to do the front, it's time to do the back. I might as well spend a couple hundred dollars more and go the coilover route. I'm thinking Megan coilovers.
