Hi guys!

I have a 2007 Mini Cooper S that I just got about a month ago when I moved to Florida. (It's been my dream car since I was 8 and it's finally mine!! )
Anyway, I realized AFTER I bought it that the sunroof doesn't open. It was raining when I was test driving it, so I didn't check out the sunroof and everything else is perfect so I assumed that worked too.

I've read people say that you can fix it by pushing on the rear part of the front sunroof and pressing the button and then putting vaseline on the rubber since it gets dried out in the heat. I tried that, but no matter how hard I push on it, it won't open!
I've tried opening it after driving for a while and when it's just sitting in the garage and hasn't been driven in a couple days. It doesn't seem to be a sporadic thing, it just really won't work at all.

When I press the button, it clicks but that's it.

Any fixes for this, besides going to the dealer? Not really looking to spend upwards of $500 to get my sunroof fixed. I'd have my dad fix it, but unfortunately he's back home in California. He said it might be a bad switch which is common in humid areas. Not sure though.

What do you guys think? And what do you suggest I do to try to fix it?

Congratulations on the new MINI!
I don't know about your problem, but the pushing on the rear of the roof piece is to help it in hot weather. When it gets hot, the sunroof tries to open when you push the switch and sort of doesn't make it. Just giving it a helping hand gets it under way. They fixed it on the LCI (facelift) model.
