Assistance needed: clicking from below (Borla?)
I need some help tracking down the source of this clicking sound. I’ve searched the threads and can’t seem to find any similar situations.
My first guess was that it has to do with my recent install of the Borla race system (since I never noticed this noise before). So back up on the ramps it went, several times in fact. I’ve double and triple checked all my seams, clamps, and any areas where the exhaust my come in contact with something. Everything is tight, no leaks, and all heat shields have their space (especially the cowl area surrounding the forward resonator hangers). With what little room I’m given with the Rhino Ramps, I’ve jammed on that center pipe trying to recreate any forceful motions to generate that sound with no luck. And yet, with almost every launch and when generous torque is applied while rolling I get one or two definite clicks. The same clicks happen when I abruptly let off the throttle. It’s very noticeable with the driver’s window down, especially when in traffic or next to another vehicle or jersey barrier.
This noise does not occur while braking, turning, cornering, or over bumps. But it does happen in reverse when experiencing the same level of launch/torque.
The sound appears to be coming from the middle/front portion of the car. I checked the bolts connecting the resonator to the Cat and they’re already well under way to becoming one with each other. I attempted to torque them down a bit more but they weren’t budging. Remembering how hard the factory ones were to get off, I wrote these off as not being the problem. But the sound does seem to be coming from this location. Could I have possibly installed the gasket the wrong way? Is there something that I’m completely overlooking? Could it have nothing to do with the exhaust at all?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Borla Race that I installed myself. I had some noise comming from the Resonator hangars touching the heat shield creating some noise. I don't know what your problem could be. According to your post you checked everything I can think of. The only other thing you may want to check is the heat shields around the Header/Cat mabe something got moved/bent when the Header was disconnected.
Thanks Super.
The thing is, I've been backing up on the ramps. Perhaps I need to get the front end up to get a different perspective. Not to mention the extra headroom I'll gain in order to work in this area.
I did take care to support the cat while doing the install, but anything can happen I guess.
Thanks again for the suggestion.
