Alta Intake whistle?
Anyone experience a high pitched whistle when slightly feathering the gas? I think i've seen it mentioned before but haven't seen a solution. Is it the nature of the filter element, or is there an air leak/hole somewhere? I can't figure it out.
I think what you hear is the Whistle from the Throttle body. You just can hear it with the ALTA because of the open design of the system. Reminds me of the Throttle plate whistle you would hear on a Carburated car with the Air Cleaner off.

Did you know the Alta airbox has MANY leaks?
If you're hearing a whistle it IS probably the throttle body, but it may also be air sucking in through god knows what gaps. Take a work light at night and wave it around the outside of the airbox while looking inside it and you will see MANY BIG HOLES! Use a high quality duct tape (after a wipe with alcolhol) to seal them, and stuff 1/2" to 3/4" thick foam under the lower section plastic box too: there are BIG gaps under it! NOW you are getting the cold air you paid for.
Next, try using a thin aluminized insulation foam on the outside of the steel box and further isolate engine heat for a better time! Search at http://www.McMastercarr.com for silicone insulation foam with aluminum and buy a foot of thte stuff. That is enough for one airbox. It really works! Looks damn trick too!
