Exhaust Cooper S
It think that the magnaflow suits that description, it has a nice deep note and does not personally sound by any ricey. There is a thread going which has a lot of links to pictures and sounds of many exhausts on the market. By the way I got mine on ebay for $510 plus shipping at $35.
Sounds like you want a magnaflow. But best to hear one before you get it just in case.
I love mine and think it has a very sweet tone that sounds powerful without sounding like it was designed just to make a bunch of annoying noise.

>>Is there anybody who goes to that Sunday Morning thing here in LA who has the Magnaflow? I'd like to hear it before I buy it, and it's been at the top of my list of things to do for a while now
Crevier in Santa Ana had a used one that I drove to get pizza when I was up there and I did not like it. I just ordered the Borla Sport from webbmotorsports (a sponsoer here) along with a few other things
I have heard both and since it is a personal choice you need to decide as you will have to live with it.

JD,
Aloha and welcome to NAM,
>>I just wanted to find out if someone could give me a heads up on a nice cooper s exhaust that sounds nice and racy like the rally cars but not like **** Chings Honda Civic.
Most important thing to do with exhausts is to listen to your choices in person.
Go for a ride in the MINI and see if the interior and exterior sound is pleasing to you.
Magnaflow is good but loud, has a tendency to drone at highway speeds.
Tends to cost less than other units. It has higher HP and adds some torque.
I think it sounds pretty good.
Other good choices-
UUC- expensive at $875 but nice throaty sound, minimal drone, good HP and torque gains. Good finish and quality. Looks great but not as loud as Magnaflow.
Milltek sport quickfit- $795. Price increased a few months ago, popular exhaust with good gains in torque and HP. Not too loud, a little less than UUC. Does not drone. Fit is good but tail pipes might be a bit offcenter/crooked. Finish not quite as nice as UUC.
Alta Sport and London Stainless quicksilver- both single sided designs with low weight about 20-22 pounds compared to 44 for stock exhaust. Low exhaust note.
The quicksilver does drone a little and is a little louder than Milltek, also has $799 price. About $699 for the Alta.
Borla race or sport- about $650+ is louder similar but not as loud as Magnaflow with good power gains and moderate torque gains. Fit is good but lots of parts and seams. Much louder than the Borla street which is quiet.
I'd say if price is not a problem be sure to check out UUC. Listen to the Magnaflow and Borla race. If you like a little less loud then check out Milltek and Alta. If you like less weight then look at Quicksilver and Alta.
Have fun.
