!HELP!!! Stuck Driver Inner Tri-Housing

Ok, changing axels on R50 Manuel Tranny, 05. All is good everything out of the way, but cant get the tri housing to pop out!!! Used pry bar, flat bar, large screw driver, everything but the kitchen sink!!! No success??... Tried pushing in and jerked it, no dice!!!! Pretty much at a loss????? Anyone have any suggestions?? Gonna try and get a slide hammer on it in the AM...
The passenger was a breeze!!! Hard time believing that just that little circlip is causing all this grief??!!
Thanks in advance...

put your safety goggles on.

remove the snap ring with snap ring pliers or two straight picks if you like living dangerously.

put the axle in a vise.

whack housing with hammer until it slides off.

make lemonade.

when installing housing, use a punch and hammer outer-most bearing race into the housing so as not to damage the bearing.

heat dust cover up with a torch and slide it on with pliers.

drink more of that lemonade you made already.

whoa thats not good. are you able to remove the other axle, put a punch through the driver's side and beat on the end of the passenger axle? sounds like that circlip is stuck/wedged in the transmission. I would inspect through the other side to see if theres any damage. I've not had this problem before on the MINIs.

Good luck, and drink up!

scratch that on the circlip idea. the carrier is the only thing holding the cv axle in place. I suspect damaged splines >_<
