Another sticky gears question

I've searched the forum and read many of the posts about sticky gears. I want to ask the experts here for your opinion. My car is a 2006 MCS with the 6 speed manual transmission. When the car is off, I push in the clutch and it shifts easily into every gear. So I am ruling out the cables.

When the car is running, it has become very hard to shift gears - I have to force it into gear. I tried pumping the clutch a couple of times, and then it seems to shift easily again.

Do you think this is the slave cylinder? Or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Your clutch is not fully releasing. If you can pump it up, I would think that it is a problem with the slave or master. Try checking fluid level first. If it is low then you are leaking.

Update on my situation - turns out it was the throwout bearing that exploded and trashed the clutch and unfortunately also damaged the transmission housing causing it to leak. Major repair cost!!

Final update - the bearing exploded, and just my bad luck - the bearings cracked the transmission bell housing and leaked fluid. Ended up going with Valeo clutch kit - much cheaper than using OEM parts, since the flywheel is about $900 alone! Ordered the kit from Detroit Tuned on Friday morning, and it was delivered to my house Saturday afternoon - great service!

The shop located a used transmission, and completed the clutch and slave cylinder replacement. Drives like a new car now! It better, since I just spend $3800 on the repair! Hopefully good for another $83k miles!

Holy crap. I had a similar symptom but it was just my slave cylinder.

My condolences to your pocketbook.
