Hello Everyone,

I have a 2006 Cooper (not S) and I've noticed that the power steering cooling fan is not operating. After doing lengthy troubleshooting, I think I'm down to a bad relay, but I can't find it. Does anyone know where the EHPS cooling fan relay is on a 2006? (Bentley manual pic. and description not correct.)

Here's what I've tried:

1. Removed fan, used battery to make sure fan had not failed.
2. Drove car up to temp. with air conditioning on, fan still not running.
3. Consulted Bentley manual and checked all related fuses (all ok).
4. Used multimeter to ensure no power through fan cable.
5. Removed interior fuse panel to check for relay and could not find.

 

The bently manual may not show that on 2005+ cars the fuse is IN THE CAR...the same one that is with the optional backup sensor...mini changed the wiring in 2005. Very common fuse to blow, even if the fan is ok...road debris, ice, rtc must jam it a blow the fuse than fall out.....

 

Thank you ZippNH! You were absolutely correct, interior fuse F40 (optional backup sensor) was blown. Once I replaced the 5a fuse I was back in business.
