Just purchased a new to me 2010 Clubman S. It has already had the water pump recall done. Only thing I am not sure about is that sometimes I hear the aux pump run after I shut down and other times I don't. Is the aux water pump run time and or use of the pump based on temp or driving conditions? Just wanted to make sure no issues. Thanks.

 

sounds normal to me

my cms all4 aux pump will run after shutdown when the ambiant air temp is high

or

if i am driving agressively just before shutdown

if i drive gentlely for a mile or 2 before shutdown, the fan runtime is greatly reduced or it does not run at all

now that the ambiant temps are cooler, the fan runs much less than when it was 90F+

My aux pump runs every time after shutdown regardless of outside temp. It's supposed to, it has to cool down the turbo which will get super hot no matter the outside temp.

 

So if you back your car out of the garage or move it a few feet after it sat over night does the aux water pump still run when you shut it down?

 

No, it has to reach operating temperature, then it'll run every time.
