oil filter conversion/relocation

over the years the desire for a conversion to a spin on type filter and or a filter relocation kit has come up several times. There has not been such a kit available.

I was flipping thru the back part of a recent 'Grassroots Motorsports' where I saw a small ad by BAT Inc, an importer for MOCAL oil control systems. I pulled up their web page and they have a long list of Engine oil take-off plates, and spin on conversion units. They list a takeoff plate for "new MINI"

Bolt-on oil take off's are designed to bolt in place of existing oil filter canisters or oil pump covers. Most include required hardware and gaskets. Fittings for fluid connection are sold separately.

that plate - if it works - is the missing piece for a filter relocation and conversion to a spin on. The same source has many different spin on mounts which would be connected to the blanking plate with standard hoses they also sell. This is also the basis of many oil cooler add on kits.

I no longer have a GEN1 but one of you junior engineers or sellers of add-on toys (WAY?) may want to look into this . . .

Now I'm not sure where I would have relocated mine TO ... but it was a minor pain working on that back of the block location ... and a spin on that wasn't upside down would be so much cleaner IMO . . .

I have no more information, nor even know if theis in a GEN1 specific item, a GEN2 (but the question doesn't come up there with the filter being up front) or a "both"

just sharing ... no finders fee requested

Neat! I've always found BAT to be a good company to deal with.

Not worth it IMO

I looked into this too, I was thinking of turning an aluminum disk with the same threads as the plastic cover and a tube going into the housing, to attach hoses and a remote filter location. But dropped the idea as superfluous and unnecessary cost/time expenditure. Just putting the idea out there if someone else is feeling adventurous.

Board posts are forever! There will always be someone with a similar idea scouring the interwebs, so it's always good to circle back and close the loop. I am assuming you have not gone forward with your idea...
