Clutch Replaced this Week

So, I have about 90K on my 2009 and a couple of months ago, the clutch started to slip. Nothing too bad, but I knew it was about time. I rely on this car for my daily commute and really didn't want to get stuck somewhere this winter. So I bit the bullet and had the work done. After choking on what MINI wanted for the work (without the DMF), I called Chad at Detroit Tuned. His cost was cheaper with the DMF than my MINI dealership without it using the exact same parts. For those who don't know, Chad and his crew do awesome work and would highly recommend them to anyone. The car feels brand new. Thanks!

What were your symptoms? Increased rpm while vehicle speed remained constant? I get an occasional squeal/moan when I engage my clutch. Probably once or twice a month. I'm at 95k miles, original clutch.

The throwout bearing started groaning about 10000 miles ago, that was symptom number one. Then I started to notice any heavy acceleration in fifth or sixth gear resulted in the RPMs spiking and then dropping as the clutch caught. That progressed into fourth and third gears as things got worse. I probably could have got a 5-10k more, but I wanted to be able to plan for repair instead of having the repair plan me.

That is the clutch slipping. The more it slips, the more heat gets generated. Too much heat will damage the flywheel, which will make your clutch replacement cost quite a bit more.
