I'm a year and a half behind but wanted to put out my confirmation as well, my r56 is no longer imitating a kazoo! Got the ECS Tuning part and used Afadeev's recommendation, approached the work from underneath, only took about 20 minutes (plus engine cooling time)!

After replacing the vacuum pump, the mooing didnt go away. I believe this is it as well.

I replaced the pressure converter today with a 7.01777.17.0 
ES#: 2804736 Mfg#: 11657599547 from ECS Tuning.
It's a tough place to get to but, I got it done and NO MOOING/KAZOO sounds now
