Once the outdoor temperature drops to 50 degrees or so, the can will start catching a ton of condensation. The actual amount of oil/sludge is very minimal, especially if you usually take trips more than 15-20 minutes and fully warm it up.

That's actually a GOOD sign that you're having little oil / condensation blow-by.
But agreed with the said above, the moment the dew point reaches the ambient temperature where water condensation occurs, you'll see more fluid.

I'm not collecting anything either and I too have an N18.
Its been in the 100's over here so I'm not expecting to catch anything....yet.
Just wait till winter comes around...if it ever does, and you'll start seeing it do its job.

you gotta wait for cold temps, you'll see something soon if you drive a bunch you'll have less. If you have a bad valve in your head you'll have alot.

How often do you guys empty out the catch can? I check my wife's R56 oil every week and empty out the crap in the OCC.

I check mine every week in the winter, as it nearly filled up last winter. During the summer i check once a month or after a track day. I was getting about 1 cup a month out for 3 months straight then when the summer set in , i was down to drops.

Going to do a full clean out and be ready for winter.

I would love to add a quick drain setup to the OCC. Just the one offered by 42 Draft Designs.

I have to agree. It's really a "water" catch can. I've had it on my car for at least two years and I get very little oil in the can. Yes, quite a bit of condensation in the winter, enough that I empty it once a week.

However, I bought the "WCC" to avoid the carbon build up on my intake and valves. I don't believe the condensation really effects the carbon build up. Or does it?

I guess if I don't get oil in the can, that should be a good thing. But on the other hand, my engine uses more oil than I like. If there is no oil in the catch can, where is the oil going?

Do you have the passenger port blocked off so that the driver side is the only exit port for the PCV system?

Yes, I installed the block off port when I installed the OCC.
