Radiator fan will not shut off, any helpful insight????
I know there are threads on the radiator fan staying on for a couple mins after the car turns off. But mine is staying on and will. Of turn off, it stayed on for 10mins n I disconnected my battery, reconnect n it is still on, any ideas as to what the problem may be?
First - check your coolant level . . . .
but, sounds to me like the fan controller is cooked
see the sticky thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-solution.html note this is a LONG thread - 20+ pages.
had to replace mine about every three years on the 02
you don't mention which year you have but on my early 02 the fan would stick in ON and there was no easy way to shut it off - I ended up disconnecting the battery everytime I shut off the car until I could replace it
as explained in the sticky the controller is not sold as a sep' part from OEM - you end up replacing the entire fan assembly and that gets a wee bit costly. Options are to source a different fan or disect the unit and replace the faulty resistor pack.

It's a late 02 s, I read the sticky, is it the low or high? I was told a while back my low was not working which was why my engine light was on but the light went away. I didn't haven't this issue when the low was out "supposedly off" I never changed it assuming it determined faulty in error by Mini service.
I'm assuming you're referring to the low fan?
If you have an '02 or '03, the problem is most assuredly a stuck relay. Open the bonnet (hood) and look down the inside left side of the fan. You will see a black plastic protrusion which has the relay inside. Take a long screwdriver, socket extension or something and tap it. Not too hard but a real tap. The fan will go off.
It is a stuck relay and very common. The fix is replacing the relay which requires removing the fan and the subject of other threads.

PS-No need to take the battery cable off as the fan connector is much easier to get at.
PSS-Note-there is no "fan controller" and the low speed problem is a burnt resister which you may have too. But this is simple. Tap the relay and plan to have it repaired. And of course keep whatever you need to tap that relay handy as till it is replaced it will happen more and more frequently.
