Hatch won't stay closed

Hey guys, I'm new here, I've had my MCS for about a month and love it. I bought the car used and ever since I've owned it I haven't been able to open the hatch using the handle, I've had to press the button on the remote. Tonight, went to the airport and the girlfriend put her luggage in the back, get home open the hatch with the remote and when I go to close it it doesn't stay shut.

I've done some searching, I tried locking and unlocking a few times. In feeling the handle by the license plate it doesn't seem to have much resistance there. When I try and pop the hatch with the remote I can hear the selanoid release. . .any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially a starting point. Thanks

well two things

1. As the button is electronic it may be disconnected or have water in it. Water in it usually make them pop open at unexpected times. Also as it is electronic there should be very little movement in it and almost no resistance.

2. Check the latch in the hatch and make sure it is not in the partially closed position. this can happen at time and then wont let the hatch close properly. If it is partially closed then use a large screw driver to force the latch open again.
