Hi,

Has anyone here fitted a remote oil filter or a pre-oiler to a Mini?

I'm interested in what equipment one would use with the Mini. What I would like to do is break-in my Mini to factory specs, then change the oil and fit a pre-oiler and remote oil filter kit. This way the engine breaks in as it was engineered and also allows any potential problems to prop-up while my warranty is more or less intact.

A remote filtration kit:

A pre-oiler:
http://www.accusump.com/acc_products/acc_units.html

Obviously, there is some concern over the room under the hood. But also doesn't the Mini use some sort of cap over the oil filter? Any idea how well a remote filtration kit would mount?

Well, thanks for any info.

I've considered it. As a first step I thought it would be good to see if it was needed, so I installed an oil temp gauge to see if I needed an oil cooler and an oil pressure gauge to see if the pressure drops off at the track during hard cornering. Anotehr advantage of the pre-oiler is that it gives instant pressure on start-up, more critical with a turbocharged car than a supercharged car.I was at the track today - saw NO drop off of oil pressures during cornering, max oil temp I saw was 230 degrees F on a 65 degree day.
So I'm leaning to thinking that an additional oil cooler and an accusump may not be needed. Plus, as you bring up, where would you put it?

If you have a cooper, This kit might work as an adapter...
