Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
Ok, so my mini starting making this kind of high pitched rattle type sound over the last couple weeks. At first it wasnt terribly loud and would show up for a couple seconds on and off at idle. Now it does it constantly and is most pronounced at idle. It's not really audible while at cruising speed. I've gone through a bunch of threads on this board and others, and also looked at a few videos trying to find a similar sound. I think it may be the supercharger on its way out, but I wanted to get a second opinion so i went ahead and recorded a short clip. Let me know what you guys think
I'm having a weird noise coming from my motor as well, and I'm trying to diagnose it but I can't see your video. Is there any way you can repost it, or email me?
Thanks for the response Jab. It's a 2004 and currently has 120k on the clock.
I didn't watch your video, but 120k is about the right time to be checking on the supercharger from what I have read. I just replaced mine at 100k because I could hear a bit of a grinding sound coming from it. I got my rebuilt supercharger from WMW. There's some other stuff you can replace while you are in there (if you do it yourself) and Way will help you out if you call him.
