TPMS Problem
My girlfriend bought rims and tires from a guy with an R56..She also has a 2009 MINI Cooper S. I asked the guy if he has tire pressure monitors on them and he said yes. His car had no warning light on either. I put them on my girlfriends r56 and rotated them (http://njconsumeraffairs.gov/fstone/...e_rotation.gif) as seen on the right picture. We started up her car and I put the tires to 38PSI. I reset the tire pressure monitor and still we have a warning light and the system is saying that TPMS is inactive. Did rotating the tires cause this? What can i do to fix it? Thanks
Check your owner's manual. I think there was some sort of "learning" process that you had to put the system through when you changed tires, or rotated them, or some such.
If you don't have the owner's manual, download it form the Owner's Lounge at https://ol.miniusa.com/ .

What year was his car and hers? The sensors changed frequencies in 2009 or 2010 I think. I had this issue in my late 2008 production car (2009 model year) when I added sensors from a 2011.
The TPMS sensors changed in October 2009. From you message, I think you have a case of adding wheels that have a different TPMS sensor than the ones on the car originally; if so, you will need to acquire some sensors that your receiver in the 2009 will work with.
