Clutch Slave Cylinder - Bell Housing broke
Clutch Slave Cylinder - Bell Housing broke
Hi all,
I've been a long time stalker on here that really has enjoyed all the awesome advice everybody shares about their motoring experience. I had read something about my clutch going out having the same symptoms as the slave cylinder dying so I got under the car to check it out and found out why it had died.
Apparently, the bellhousing where the slave is mounted to broke. Suddenly this doesn't seem like a $30 fix that just replacing the slave would have been...replacing the bellhousing would be a nightmare. I was wondering if anybody else had come across this and how you'd approach solving the problem. My buddy said to JB Weld it for a temporary solution, but then I read a thread that said to actually weld it you have to put the entire bellhousing in an oven at 500 degrees...and I figure if the thing's gotta come off, that's a monster under taking.
Please let me know if you have any advice regarding this. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Before I'd have it welded, I'd try a product by the name of LAB METAL. It's a 2-stage product that most industrial supply houses carry. If that doesn't work (but it will), I'd have a shop Heli-Arc weld it. If you do, be sure to disconnect the battery before any welding.
i know it is a bit late for you but www.mini.uk.com has made a bracket to sort out the problem called the FTT BRACKET it will be sold next month in the uk, at the moment only minimotorsports center run by john cooper garages and works ex chief engineer Tony Franks in the uk can get his hands on them £79.99 they only take 10 minutes to fit once the slave is off
