MINI Extended Motoring Protection XXL

Has anyone bought this extended coverage? I'm thinking about the XXL because I have the factory NAV on my 2009 JCW.

My warranty will be up this August, and I've only got 16,000 miles on my car. I'm wondering what the consensus is on this extended program.

If you've bought it - what did the XXL program cost you to go to 7yrs and 100K miles?

Finally, has anyone bought the extended maintenance program from MINI that goes up to 6yrs and 100K miles - and, do you think this is worth it?

Thanks in advance.

got quoted $3,400 to take the factory warranty to 6 yrs / 100K miles and, another $2k if I wanted 2 more years of maintenance. Now, I know why nobody has bought this program. I only put 5K miles a year on my car, so I'm just going to go sans warranty when it runs out this summer. Geesh.

wow, $3400 for only 2 years of warranty? I'd pay $3400 for another 5 years of warranty but not for 2 years. That's ridiculous.

Which dealer did you get it from? I'll give them a call and see if I can get a similar price.

For most people, an extended warranty is a waste of money. Most people, especially with toy, or second cars, will run out of time long before they hit the mileage limit. Most parts on a car fail with mileage not time. Yes there are exceptions, but... $3K+ (roughly 10% of what my car cost new), could be saved to pay for most repairs, and at the end of 6 years you probably could take a nice vacation.

I like your way of thinking!

what if the car in question is your only car and is your daily driver?

That's my dilemma; I have ~49500 miles right now on my JCW Clubman that is only 28 months old--and it sits during the summer while I'm on two wheels. Probably would not consider an extended warranty, but after having the timing CHAIN replaced at 35,700 miles, I am concerned. What happens at 70k when this one wears out?? An aftermarket company quoted me $5093 for 5 years (from today), 100k total miles (so a little more than two more years for me). The price started coming down when I complained, but only to around $4k for the "platinum" plan, then they offered me "comprehensive" coverage for $2723. The plus is I could go to my mechanic who is 7 miles away, instead of the dealer who is 45 miles away. I cannot believe I answered the phone when the warranty company called with the quote.....

We ended up buying an extended warranty at the time of purchase.
It's a 60 month/100000 mile.My wife drives about 20000 miles a year.
The finance person did not say anything about the XXL or anything else availble at the time.
I said I might just buy it later but she said it could cost more.

www.autoprotection.com I filled out the online quote form and they called me in about a half hour. I went to the dealer I have been to for service yesterday. They offered me the same option as autoprotection, but the price that came up for the platinum plan was almost $10K! The sales dude said to ignore that price, but it was still going to cost me almost $9K. I ended up with the XL 5 year / 100K mile extension to the factory warranty from Mini. It was $2580. That gives me another two years and to see what happens when the new timing chain hits 36K miles (when the last one went out).
