R50 Short Throw shifter issue

I recently installed the B&M short throw shifter in my 2003 R50 via some very thorough instructions I found on NAM, had no issues with the install, I really like the shortened travel, but when I'm in any gear the stick has a good amount of movement (about 1-2") left to right, I'm almost positive it didn't do this prior to the install. There is a bushing that goes into the hole of the little arms that extends out to the right at the bottom of the shifter (don't know technical term) that seems to keep falling out. I'm sure this has something to do with it? Any suggestions how to fix this stick wag issue. Anyone else's do this?

For what it's worth, my R50s stock shifter has always had some lateral play, since I bought it 15,000KM ago. Maybe you just didn't notice before?
