Got all my parts thanks to Sewell.
Is it pretty straight forward or is a procedure recommended?

Not sure how mechanically inclined you are....but I recommend you have the BMW TIS software or Bentley Manual, its step by step in both of those.

Nothing is too hard, but it takes a lot of time....headlights come out, front bumper off, ic off, bunch of other junk, put the front end in "service mode" (tilts forward), and then unbolt heat shields, unbolt downpipe from turbo, unbolt coolant and oil lines, unbolt manifold, unbolt turbo from manifold. Repeat in opposite order.

That is obviously an extremely simplified version, to be honest while nothing is too challenging...it is what I'd consider a giant pain in the ***.

Here's a photo with the turbo off so you can kinda see what it all looks like, and how its not as simple as it would look when you open the hood. You would think the turbo is very easy to get to & remove seeing as its right in plain view when you open the hood, but its not.

Thank you for your business!

For everyone else, I will tailor a custom turbo replacement kit for your needs or there is a full replacement kit for 07-09 cars that includes turbocharger, gaskets, bolts, and oil lines which can be found on our site.

So I got the Bentley Manual, followed the instructions to put into "Service Mode" to a T. I cannot move the dang bumper (radiator support I think it calls the entire assembly). Any thoughts? I used my ballpeen hammer and the rails do not seem to be hung up, i think there is a fastener of some sort the Bently manual did not call out. Very tired and cold.....

Sorry about your turbo, I would do 6 - 7K oil intervals and ignore the cars "engine-o-meter" that is highly suspect at best. Regular oil changes are cheap insurance (sorry, not rubbing it in, really).

Here is a video from Bentley on how to do it. Some steps are amazingly NOT included in the manual.

Mike,

Tried to do install this weekend, got the turbo off, when trying to reinstall I noted the replacement doesn't have the stud bolts the original had.... thoughts?
