Dash lights fading

Hey everyone. I have a 2011 MCS, and have an odd issue that i hope is not a "feature". When driving, the dash/speedo light intensity fades in and out. I assumed it was because i have been driving in rain recently, and had my headlights on, so there may be a "light sensor" compensating for the ambient light, etc. I noticed yesterday that it does it with the headlights off as well. I can't seem to find a light sensor, so i don't know if it a larger electrical issue. Driving while the intensity fades in and out in going to drive me insane.

Not sure about '11 models but my '10 clubman has a light sensor in the 'tach' display under the red plastic lens on top. If in bright sunlight and I put my hand over the lens my fuel gauge will dim. Never noticed anything other than the fuel gauge dimming.

Yep, it's normal. Say you drive through a tunnel, all the dash lights will dim so they're not too bright, with or without the headlights on.
