Advice please: wiring switches in 2009 Cooper
Hello,
I am hoping that somebody can offer some advice regarding installing an additional set of auto-window switches in my 2009 Mini Cooper (European import to Australia).
Background: the reason for this modification is that as a wheelchair user, I drive with a hand control and steering ****, which means that both of my hands are busy during driving, however I can easily operate the auto window buttons if they are mounted on the driver-side door near the door lever.
The auto electrician who is doing some modifications to this car for me is having plenty of problems in installing an extra set of auto window controller buttons on the door for me. The buttons when wired into the circuitry cause faults and at one point he had to seek assistance from Mini Australia to reboot the software in my car just to restart it.
I realise that these cars use "cbus" cabling, and it's difficult to simply tap into this circuitry. So, many people install all kinds of aftermarket accessories, how do we install extra auto window controller buttons? Are additional buttons relayed from the existing buttons or do we somehow Into some auxiliary circuitry that we aren't aware of yet? Everything the auto electrician has tried seems to throw up faults and cause all kinds of shutdown events.
Any advice that anybody can offer will be much appreciated I assure you!
Best regards,
Michael
