My wife has recently had an issue with the stripes on her Mini changing to an orange-ish color in some places. We haven't had them two years and we were wondering if there is a specific maintenance we should be following for their upkeep (i.e. Car wash with water only, etc.)

 

Some of my originally installed white racing stripes had a bit of rusty-color fade on them on the boot. Sun fade kicks in eventually too. This occurred even with the standard religious application of wax every 4-6 months. A durable wax is the best medicine, but fading is inevitable. Buffing them out with a random-orbital polisher helps a little, but over the long run they just need to be replaced to have that BRAND NEW look.

 

Mine are black and I just use my usual car wax on them to remove water stains and discoloration.

 

Try using a Clay Bar, then a good Brand of Car Wash/Wax/Polish Products. Your MINI will thank you!!
