80,000 miles cam chain failed engine FUBAR. Shut car off 1 night, wouldn't crank next morning. Tried again in evening, turned over but would not start. Dealer said piston got intmate with valves. BMW told they can't help. Dealer says $6000 to replace engine. I can get low mileage used engine for $2600-$3500. Are there electronicn issues with engine swap, IE; certain parts need to stay so computer recognizes new motor. Can engine come out top or does it have to come out bottom. Anything else I need to know to fix this?

 

my car just blew up with 54k on it... if I can't get the dealer to help out I will need to find and engine as well. Where are you looking to get an engine? I wish I could throw a Honda engine in there...
