Do a search on here for "fan cover". You'll pull up a few threads on them. I recommend a DIY approach as the one offered by Moss will run around $40. I ended up spending about $2 on material on mine. It's been on almost a year without any problems.

I was considering doing the same thing. Do you have any pics of your DIY fan shroud? Even better, any measurements that might be useful?

Thanks,
Steve

Also you might check the dealer. I think I remember reading that the 04 MINI has a cover on the PS fan. - I could be wrong

our 04 has a plastic grill thing over the fan, but I wouldn't call it a cover.

Sorry my error. I saw a pic and it looked different that what I remembered seeing under my car. I would strongly suggest the Moss cover or a skid plate. (after the ice and snow I like the skid plate. Some owner of a MCS was not so luckly last year. I have a MCS tranney in my basement with a big hole in it.)

I've installed the fan cover from Moss, a no-brainer. Given it's SST, an easy install and perfect fit, then it has the value worth the money. Go for it!

I put it on my 04 mcs in about 3 min. Ran the front tires up onto two 2x6 planks, remove two nuts, unplug fan, slide cover on, put plug back in, hang fan, put two nuts back on... that simple.

I also installed the Moss Mini shroud. Easy installation and it looks OEM and seems very sturdy. Here's a link to their install instructions (with good pics) :
Moss Mini Fanshield Install
By the way, it's currently only $29.95 (versus their regular $39.95 - which I paid) :???: if you click on their WEB SPECIALS button.
