Mini On A Lift! Help!
Mini On A Lift! Help!
Left the house this morning, drove about 100 yards, lost all electrical power in the dash, except for the radio and got the Mini on a lift symbol.

This is what I know: The car will still start the headlamps and radio still work. The interior lights will still turn on via the overhead switches, and the windshield wipers and horn still work. Everything else is dead! My car is a 2007 MCS with 16000 miles. Anyone have any ideas?

Yep. Had that happened to me.
According to the dealer, one of the 12 'electronic module' is whacked. Which one is it? They don't know until they disconnect each one. Apparently my vehicle kept 'waking' itself up from sleep mode so there's a short circuit somewhere. So everytime I start up the car, everything resets itself, time, date, favourite stations etc. It's annoying but the car runs fine. They finally figured out that my trunk latch kept opening and shutting on it own every so often which caused the system to reset stuff. I knew I heard some clicking noise in the garage a few times but brushed it off. I mean how could a car 'wake up'. Luckily they found it within a week of having my vehicle or else I'd have no idea how long it'd be in the shop. So that's my story... or so the dealer tells me.

Finally got my Mini back from the dealer yesterday! The repair order states the problem was the RDC module was internally shorting out the K-Bus, not allowing the vehicle to communicate. The RDC module was replaced, and everything works again.
