from my experience (3 hpfp in 5 years) once it is hard to start, the hpfp is going bad...ignore it and it will leave you stranded and costing you a tow.
BTW, the actual carbon cleaning is almost nothing like a sea-foam treatment. The one is similar to how a dentist will scrape your teeth with various implements of destruction, and the other is like swishing mouthwash around. Guess which one is more effective?
I like that analogy between the two.
We have a good carbon clean up DIY that goes over a step by step process with photos too, which shows this "teeth cleaning" method.
Nope. It's only the turbocharged R56-series cars. The "Justa" cars use traditional port injection, not direct injection.
Would this also affect 2011 JCW's? I think mine is a SuperCharger, not the turbo. This sputter has been going on for a week now. So far I changed out the spark plugs, but it still sputters when the engine is cold. She starts up fine if I do a quick errand and am in and out of a store.
I was about to pick up new Ignition Coils, but then remembered to check here.
If this is the fix, is the dealership the only place that can fix this?
Am not an expert, but this is what I think. First, you have a turbo n14 engine ('11 JCW). Second, the n14 engine is very prone to carbon on the intake valves. I would suggest removing the intake manifold and get a tool to inspect the valves.
All HPFP's have been suspect from the start, as far as cold start and misfire issues. Yeah, you have a turbo N14, and carbon issues are much worse than with the N18, supposedly. Depending upon your current mileage, I might suspect either as being the misfire culprit.
