front seat recline - again

ok folks - I like to start by stating we love these mini's - great fun to drive but -- man are they temper mental -
'06 S and the front driver seat got stuck in recline.... brute force method got it up a few notches but did not correct the issue - - recline not operational.

have priced new frame but am willing to take one more shot at "forcing" this back into alignment, however I am not 200 lbs like some of these other folks that have had success?

Question:

when I go to replace the frame - is there anything special about the airbags that I need to be concerned with - I do not have any desire to pay someone to do something as "seemingly" easy as a seat frame replacement. I do not want to damage or deploy the bags.

thanks

I can't speak for Minis as I just ordered mine yesterday but I've taken the seats out of my Xterra before and as far as the air bag, there should be a clip underneath the seat and once that is detached (just unclip) you have nothing to worry about,

might wanna wait for someone else to chime in for your situation though.

thanks - good advice -
the frame replacement requires everything coming off the frame -
this means air bags - that is my fear...

but I won't start until I get the steps

When you go to remove seats there will be a number of wires to disconnect.
2 wires will be from the seat belt latch.
1 wire for air bag
Depending on what options you have there maybe wires for seat heater and seat occupant pad.
All wires are color coded and easy to disconnect/connect.
Issue you might to look into before replaceing frame.
Cost of removing seat cushions, air bag, etc is going to be VERY expensive.
Estimate around $500.00 PER SEAT.
Add costs of frames.
Try looking for a set of used seats first.
Will probally be far cheaper in the long run.

the ticket is up there - another ouch!
but I have been doing some of the non-bmw computer required maintenance work bc I can.
this one is air bags and it is a little bit worrisome -
caution for sure -
thanks for information.
