the software updates i have been reading about from the dealer.... do they cost to be done? do you have to ask for them to be done, or are they done everytime you go in? i feel like i should get one done. i don't have any problems that i know of with my 02 s, but maybe there is something i do not know about. any thoughts?

If you don't have the stumble or any problems with cold starting, then apply the "don't fix it if it ain't broke" rule and leave your software alone.

On the other hand, if you have either of these problems, the latest version of the DME software (CD 36) will address the issues. Updating the software to address problems is part of warranty service and shouldn't cost anything (and if your dealer in Hartford tries to tell you otherwise, drive up here to MA and go to MINI of Peabody  )

jsun is right...

Just call them up and say that you have been having problems with stumble (if you have), and say that you want them to update it under warranty. Shouldn't be a problem

Good luck!

But just like jsun said. DON'T GET YOUR SOFTWARE UPGRADE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF UPGRADING YOUR SOFTWARE!!!!

Numerous owners have complained about problems cropping up when the upgraded. If your car is running fine LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

I think we should ask TRIPPY to write us some good ECU software.
None of that V36, V37, stumble humble, yo-yo mojo anymore.
We need a pro to write some good stuff.
Trippy, where are you when we need you!
Then you can give the new Trippy software to all MINIacs for free!
