Check Engine Light & Acceleration lag: Is this the end of the road?

This past Decemeber I had MINI do the recommended transmission flush at 65,000. I noticed that the car drove very differently once it was returned. The acceleration was simliar but I noticed that once I let off the gas the car felt as if it were shifting to a lower gear (it's an automatic on a 2004 MC) noticeably slowing the car down some. I should have brought it back to the dealer but the holidays came and then I was traveling for work and not driving much. When I did eventually drive it I still noticed the issue from before.

More recently, the "check engine' light came on and I noticed the acceleration to be lagging a bit. What the heck is going on here? The car has been doing weird things since the maintenance in Decemeber. I don't hear any strange noises but something is definitely up.

I would contact the dealer that performed the service ASAP and explain the issue. Have them look at it before something gets worse and costs you a small fortune to repair.

You've been having problems for 4 months and you still haven't taken it back to the dealer to have them check it out?

If someone on this board told you exactly what was wrong (which is impossible BTW) wouldn't you take it to the dealer to have the work done?

Your logic escapes me.....

Take it to the dealer with as accurate of symptoms as you can describe and let them figure it out for you.

Make sure the fluid is at the correct level. CELs can be almost anything and the odds are it is unrelated.

If you read what I wrote I said I noticed the difference four months ago but have not driven the car much since then. Probably only on weekends and not every one of them. I am aware of how long ago it was. Thank you very much. I wasn't looking for a diagnosis on the board. Maybe an idea of what to expect once the car is checked out. That's what we do here right? Bounce ideas, suggestions and advice off of each other? Sorry if my logic offended you. I'll be sure to only post things that are neatly wrapped with a red bow just for you.

Thanks to each of the other posters for the tips. Much appreciated.
