I have a 2004 MINI Cooper S. After coming home from short drive today, I turn my car off and my dash lights, interior lights, and headlights sporadically flash. I put the key back in the ignition and then took it out again and it still would not stop. I made sure everything was off but it still kept flashing. I started the engine again and it started up fine, turned it off and same deal. I got out and locked all the doors thinking that might stop it, but nothing. I tried to start it one more time and it had trouble the first time but then started the second time. When I turned it off this time and took the key out the engine kept running! I can get it to stop sometimes but I'm not quite sure how I do it. It all seems random and different every time. What in the world could cause something like this?

 

I guess no ones seen anything like that before. As much as I dont want to I'm going to have to take it somewhere tomorrow. Unfortunately there are no dealers within a reasonable distance.
