I recently noticed that the leather wrap on my steering wheel is breaking down and peeling off every time I drive the car. I have an 03 MCS, so I understand that it may just be aging but the car has been garaged its entire life and doesn't even have 30K on it yet! It just doesn't seem right for a BMW product to wear this quickly. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if there are any DIY kind of remedies/solutions (besides getting a stupid wheel cover?

 

Have you taken care of the wheel with any kind of leather treatment? Leather will age if not treated/maintained.
You can get the wheel re-wrapped with leather. This will also give you a bit more thickness if desired, or you can simply remove the old and replace.
