Transmission surging(?)

My R53 is a 09/02 build, 170K kms (or 106K mi) on it, with minor mods (15% pulley, Alta intake).

I was driving last night and the car surged briefly (only way I can think to describe it) while under constant throttle, as if I had been rear-ended. With the surge came in increase in rpm and a flicker of the CEL. The CEL came on and went out again within seconds. It happened 4 separate times during my drive, at different speeds, and while cold and at normal operating temperature.

Not sure if this will help, but the severity of the kick-in-the-pants from the 'surge' was less so in higher gear.

I had it in to the dealer for an inspection as it is getting on in years and mileage, they did an oil change for me too, but that was the extent of the work done during the visit. I have explained the situation to them and I'm going to take it back in for them to look at.

Any thoughts?

Auto or standard? Retrieve the stored codes and get back to us. Could be as simple as dirty wheel speed sensors.
