Recurring exterior bulb indicator

Hi,

2009 Mini Cooper -

Is anyone getting a recurring, false external bulb indicator light? I had it a few days after buying the car and several times since then but there is no failed bulb (at first service dealer said they found a bad bulb but a month later inidcator is on again). The indicator turns off after a day or so. Is this a stored code type indicator?

Not a big deal but I wonder if this is a common problem.

Bulbs do store "faults" but once repaired the indicator light goes away without having to reset those faults. Next time you're at the dealer tell them you've had the problem before and ask them to scan the car for faults. It will tell them what light is causing the problems. Either the software that monitors the bulbs is to sensitive or there is actually something wrong, either way they should fix something.

Thanks,

I have a OBDII code reader and I think I found the manufacturer specific codes on the internet. I'll give it a try.

Getting my local dealer to do anything is like pulling teeth.

Good grief,

Just had the 30k mile service and I'm getting a PO304 code - cylinder 4 misfire. That's the only code I see.

Edit - OOPs, code display is stale from a previous vehicle - I think my code reader is too old as it is unable to establish a link with the car (although car dash lights do repond to the code reader). I have contacted the code reader manufacturer to see if the code reader is compatible.

lol .... YUP ... ME TOO with the bulb indicator warning - not even sure which bulb if any it relates to...... seems like we have a similar batch of 2009 MCs .... lol .....

I checked the service records of the previous owner and there were bulb issues in the past, including an issue that melted the socket .... thankfully, other than the indicator that comes on now and then ... no real light or bulb issues ...

... maybe MINI needs a recall for TOO SENSITIVE warning lights ....

2009 here also.... Mine were the rear fog lamps. After replacing the bulb and having the warning come back I ended up taking everything apart cleaning all the connections and re-assembly all has been good for over a year now.

Had the same issue with my scanner. Kept showing old codes for a different vehicle and couldn't establish a connection. Turns out you need to push the start button with out pushing the clutch in to put the car in ACC

were you able to visually see a failed bulb or did a scanner code point to what wasn’t working?
