Leaking rear hatch

Looking at several past posts its seems I may have a leaking high brake light. There is water coming out the weep hole at the base of the hatch door and overflowing the seal and into the car.

I want to take the light out and take a look at the seal. I notice there are no screws at the lamp cover. How do you get into it?

Not sure about your car, but it is three on mine 02 S. Not to discourage you, but I have replaced the 3rd light, re-sealed the handle, and I am still getting water past the rubber seal and into the battery, I am starting to think the latch needs adjusting to pull tighter against the car and water is just wicking around the hatch seal to the bottom and in.

I have a chrome loop and have heard there is a newer black loop you can replace to tighten the hatch to the body.

Yes, there may be three, I was going from memory and the car is not home to check right now.

I'll put a piece of tape over the weep hole and see if water collects there to see if it is coming through one of the penetrations (light, latch, etc).

It hadn't leaked for the first 8 years so if it is leaking around the seal as you think, sounds like the seal needs replacement. Unlikely that the latch tighness has reduced dont you think?
