Was getting close to (my) normal 5k mile oil & filter change when my low oil pressure dummy light came on.
So i change my oil & filter & it is still coming on after i start the car & let it run a few mins. I can press gas a little & it goes out for a min till it goes back to idle. I hear no abnormal noises in the engine as if it is not getting lubrcation.

Any ideas i am stumped on what to do next? Thanks!

Perhaps a bad valve cover gasket.

 

Most likely a faulty pressure switch for the oil light. I had a rebuilt motor put in my Explorer and to my horror watched the oil pressure gauge slowly drop to 0 over the next few hundred miles!! Plugged in a mechanical test gauge and found good oil pressure. Installed another new sender/switch and all was well again.

I'd advise having the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge just to make sure there aren't any pressure issues.

Check the pressure with a new gauge and if it shows good replace the sender, if not the pump may be going out.
