Insert Navigational DVD

Our 2007 Cooper is having an occasional problem when we use the Nav. It randomly stops and tells us to insert navigational dvd right in the middle of the directions. The only way that we can figure out how to get it going again is to pull over and turn the car off and start it up again. I did a search and couldn't find anything - any suggestions?

I don't have the nav system, but my guess would be that its the result of disc read errors from the nav dvd. Its probably a result of either scratches on the dvd, or a dvd drive that is failing. You should be able to eject the dvd and examine it. If there are any scratches, you should be able to see them by looking at the dvd at an angle under direct light.

There are DVD cleaners available - probably worth cleaning the disk

There is a bulletin for this, it is an issue with the nav drive, take it in to your dealer and they replace the nav disc drive.
