Not a cracked head!!!
Not a cracked head!!!
OK, short story, car overheated and was driven a few miles in that condition. Coolant started leaking into cylinder. Took head off today and thoroughly inspected it with light and magnifying glass. Found no cracks
Put the straight edge to it and was gauging .4mm diag and .35 horiz. The book says no more than .1mm. I take it the head got to hot and warped and the head gasket blew from that. I will take it to the machine shop Monday to have it re-surfaced.
BTW....what it the best way to clean the old head gasket junk off the block and head without scratching the surface

Good news, the machine shop said no crack, just needs to be resurfaced
I guess I will buy a thicker head gasket depending on how much they take off.
Say they only take off .15mm, do I buy the +.3mm gasket or just use a stock one. What are the guide lines
