Mirror cover falls off

I'm driving down I25 about 75MPH. I hear a soft thump, like I hit a bird. Look in the direction of the noise and see my mirror cover has come off and is hanging from the bottom of the mirror. I get to my exit, pull up to a red light and as soon as I stop the cover falls to the ground. It was not loose to begin with. Hard to believe this could happen just from driving at a highway speed. Anyone else ever have this issue? The cover easily snapped back on but I have a 1000 mile road trip coming up. Hopefully it was just a freak occurrence. Maybe I did hit a bird and didn't see it. Quite puzzling.

Happened to me as well. The dealer replaced mine under warranty.

I lost one in a car wash (please, no flaming for going through the car wash ... it was a break from several days of sub-freezing temps and I was desperate ). Ended up getting black & white checks from the stealer to replace it.

Happened to me as well on my first use and replaced under warranty. This is a known issue, and unfortunately, they were made very cheap. As a result I don't even use them anymore.

The CF mirror caps are worse. They do not fit very well at all. I put them on myself and they did not fit properly. I thought I was doing something wrong. Went to the dealer and they did no better than me. I even started a thread here about this issue with the CF caps. Finally was able to get all the tabs to click in place. I was worried about water seepage from the rain then from them falling off.
