Is this gonna be a problem?

Whilst doing a quick rinse on Maggie this afternoon, I noticed a new "feature" on her scoop.

That isn't a shadow and there is definitely a dip there just to the right of center whilst looking from the front of the car. Is this the beginning of the dreaded scoop melt? What say y'all? Making an appointment now to catch this early. Let's see how Flow of Raleigh do on this one.

Cheers!!

Looks like it to me. I'll be curious to see how the dealership treats this. I wonder if MINI has implemented any changes in the scoop design for the 2011 model year.

I thought they were going to release a 'new' hoodscoop sometime this last year. But, I never caught wind if that actually happened.

That's exactly what mine looked like, and every time a see a MC in a parking lot, it's similar. It's not like they melt. Take it in before your warranty runs out, and ask them to put the add-on heat resistant shield on the underside.

Mine has a heat shield screwed to the underside of the scoop, so yes, the factory came up with a fix for it. Your new warrantied scoop will probably have the heat shield.

Mine had the MINI/BMW heat shield screwed to the underside of the scoop, and the scoop warped twice. I'm pretty sure that's not the final fix. Dealer finally agreed to replace the scoop with a CF scoop, and 8 months later all is fine.

Looks about right, mine had a dip in it and they swapped it out no questions asked, they knew what it was and have seen it before. I too have the felt under the middle of the hood and I removed the plastic grill in the hood scoop to help prolong its life, but will eventually dip again.

You removed the plastic grill, and replaced it with what?
