convenient access intermittent

The convenient access on my 2007 mcs works intermittently. After driving to work (22miles) I goto to lock the car with the push button on the door handle and it never works. Other times is works occasionally. Always though to and from that drive to work. The fob lock and unlock works no problem. Remote start is no problem. Had it to dealer a number of times and they can not replicate it. They cant get a fault code. Very frustrating. They did replace the door handles but that did not solve the problem. Paid good money for this option for it not to work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe the fob itself is running out of juice. Can't remember where I heard/read it but the key should be actually inserted into the car at least every couple of months. So maybe if you've always hopped in the car with the key in your pocket and hit start all the time the signal between car and fob has weakened. Just a thought.

I had the same problem on my 2007 MCS, sometimes the CA worked, and sometimes it didn't. Dealer had to replace my rearview mirror (that's where the "guts" are of the CA package) and it's been workinging perfectly since then. I was lucky it was still covered under warranty. Good luck my friend.

That's possible (fob running out of "juice"). And that's probably the first thing you should check. As an aside, the standard fobs are recharged when they're in the dashboard receptacle; BMW/MINI recommends using them at least twice a year (manual doesn't say for what length of time, though) to keep them sufficiently charged.

However, if you have Comfort Access, the fobs are not rechargeable -- they have owner-replaceable batteries (I guess similar to those in other key fobs for central locking systems). I don't know what the typical life-expectancy of the batteries in the Comfort Access fobs is, but you might want to check it to see how much charge it's holding. Most places that sell replacement batteries have battery testers.

ya fobs with comfort access are not rechargeable. I think it's the battery in the fob that needs to be replaced, it sounds like it's running out of battery
