Competition Edition warranty on fan and horns

Hi,

I'm wondering how many Competition Edition owners have had to replace the horns and/or power steering auxillary pump fans multiple times.

I bought CE #19/64 in January 2008 and I love it. But, I've been through about 6 power steering auxillary pump fans and am now headed for my third set of horns. I have just heard that MINI Canada will not replace either part under warranty anymore if the fault is found to be road debris or water caused. I have told MINI Canada that they designed a car that sits really low and has even lower parts with no protection. I have also told them that it is next to impossible to avoid puddles in Vancouver BC.

I'm hoping other CE owners have had multiple failures and I can use this as ammo with MINI Canada (poor design on their part).

Thanks

I'm pretty sure the Competition Edition was still dreamed up at BMW, then only sold in Canada. But there should still be something for a case if others have the same issue. With only 64 of the CE around, I'm sure an unusually large % have had issues.

The MINI auto has a duct that leads to the PS fan - should help in reducing water/debris

There is also an aftermarket shroud for the fan. If I install it I void any and all warranty on the fan, whether debris caused or not. Dumb, I know.

MINI Richmond is covering the repairs under good will. NOT MINI Canada.

Further repairs will NOT be covered.

I'm not impressed with MINI Canada but continue to be impressed with the service at MINI Richmond. (That's in British Columbia, Canada not Virginia. )

Yeah, mine gets replaced every year by them as well, under their 2 years parts and labour warranty. Good people there.
