I would definitely ask for the old parts in case the issue remains, but hope it won't come to that for you!

You may be allowed to see the old parts, but on warranty repairs the dealer will retain the old parts for MINI's inspection.

There is no reason known to man why you should keep transmission parts. You have a work order that tells you what they replaced and why. They are not going to let you have the parts anyway because you are not paying a bill.

Rule #1: Never trust a sales person's promise or evaluation unless it's in writing. That goes for any product. They are trying to move merchandise. If all a salesman has to say is "yeah, we'll cover it if it breaks", you buy the product and it's not in writing, the conversation never happened.
I agree, go with your gut. If something is telling you it's wrong, move on. There's plenty of Mini's out there.
Hopefully they will cover it, but look at it from their angle. No documented proof of an existing problem and over the warranty mileage. they have an easy out if they want to. Good luck.

... if it's a MINI dealer (didn't see that written) - if it's just a regular ol' dealer, it's probably needed for the core charge. I would try to see the clutch plate, if nothing else, (A) just to make sure it got replaced (if they didn't charge you, they can't rip you off, right? Lying about it is a different issue), and (2) to see if there was abnormal wear, indicating some (possibly future) problem...
