Has the HPFP issue been fixed in 2010-2011s

Giving some thought to adding an "S" to the herd. Some folks at MTTS told me that the 2010/2011 HPFP is a new design and the failure issue was a thing of the past.

Is that a fact?

That is the word going around atm but no one knows yet if the new design is really better. Kinda early to tell I think.

I have a 2010 Clubman S with 10,000kms on it and it seems to be suffering from HPFP symptoms... hard starts or no start, stumble/almost stall at intersection...

Aw, nuts.

I've been teetering on the "S" wire for about a month (since coming back from MITM). I just finished talking with the service guys about their experiences with the 10+ turbcharged cars (the service guys say the new ones rock), and I have run the configurator about 49 times to get the perfect fit. I was hoping it had been fixed.

Nuts.

I know there is at least 5 cooper S's 2010 's in for service at Mini Of Annapolis for the HPFP problem. So no, I don't think theres a fix yet, but at least BMW put a warranty extention up to 100,000 mi.Alot better than some other manufactures.I do commend them for aknowledging and trying for a fix I never had the problem as yet, but I like knowing if I do it will be covered under warranty

I've been told that the 2010s and later are excluded from the new warranty extension -- that it covers 2007 through 2009 models only.

I've not seen the letter can anyone confirm what it does say?

I don't have my letter right in front of me, as I'm out of town on business; but the long-and-short of it, as I recall, was that MINI extended the warranty on the HPFP, for 2007-2009 model-year vehicles, to 10 years/120,000 miles.

Well, perhaps it has...? I mean, the following is purely speculation, but think about it: If BMW/MINI is providing a 10-year/120,000 mile warranty (which is almost unprecedented) on the HPFP for older models (2007-2009), they must have a replacement pump they firmly believe is going to work now. I mean, I'm sure BMW/MINI don't want to be continually replacing fuel pumps for the next 10 years -- that's just not cost-effective, and they are in the business of making a profit... So they must have a suitable replacement available now, which I'm guessing is the new pump they're putting in the 2011 vehicles (or at least a "retrofitted" pump based on the newer design)...

And in the wake of the delayed recall issues/fines/lawsuits surrounding Toyota gas pedals, perhaps BMW/MINI wisely decided to be proactive in addressing a fuel system problem that some enterprising class-action lawyer might pounce all over, should vehicle owners start having accidents because their fuel pump gave out on them in traffic or some such scenario...?

Some 2010 models still seem to be having the same fuel pump issues as the 2007-2009 models, and the real question perhaps should be: why hasn't BMW/MINI included those model year vehicles in this extended warranty program...? Again, I'm speculating that BMW/MINI may be reasoning that any 2010 models which experience failures of the HPFP are sufficiently covered uner its basic 4-year/50,000 miles warranty as to almost guarantee they will receive (or perhaps in the case of late-production 2010 models, have already received) the newer pump design. Not say I agree entirely with their rationale, if it is as stated; just offering a plausible explanation...
