Does anyone know the resistance of the pos. battery cable squib?(the yellow piece on the end of the battery cable).

Rather than replacing the entire battery cable I have reconnected the part that blows off in an accident. To extinguish the Airbag light requires a resistor to be put in place of the squib.

I have reset the airbag light after putting in a 3.2 ohm resistor, but I was just wondering if anyone has the actual, correct resistance?

I have recently got the same problem with my cooper s and would like a cheap and quick fix instead of spending lots of money on a replacement battery cable, could you explain to me where you put the resistor??

The resistor is under the black shrink wrap in the photo.

remove the 2 wires that go into the yellow cap on the battery terminal. Those are the ones that fire the squib.

Place the resistor across the 2 wires.

Reset SRS computer.

Good as new.

I am a new member with the same mini airbag light problem.I have read with interest the ways of solving the problem. Could somebody please explain/show exactly where the 3.3 ohm resistor is placed in the SRS wiring in the boot.

If you do this fix and then clear the light, does that mean the air bag system will work in case of an accident?

I have a 07 mini cooper and the air bag lights been on for 6 months for no apparent reason. I have it turned off at the garage but it comes back on after a couple of hours.
The garage tell me I need a new Ring Squib but can not explain why. does any body have any ideas what goes wrong with the ring squib and if its true that it costs 500 GDP.
Any more help on the resistor fix would be more than welcomed.

It's a simple fix that I did 3 years ago, then sold the car.

Thanks for the fix info! I have an '06 S and the air bag light is on. At first, I thought it might be the seat sensor, but perhaps it is the ring squib.
How were you able to determine that your battery cable needed replacement and what method did you use to reset the SRS computer after installing the resistor?

My car was a 2003. I bought the tool shown in the following you tube video and it worked as advertised.


The tool I have is supposedly no good after 2003 models.

Resistors are not directional.

 

Tell that to the audiophile nuts! Many swear that power cord and speaker cord
wires and even fuses are directional, too. They can spend hours deciding
which way sounds that tiny smidge better.

 

Quick update, completed fix today and switched off Airbag light which now stays off

I did this same procedure with a resistor and used a Creator C310 to reset the airbag light. I picked up the scanner on Ebay for about $65.

 

Sorry to resurrect this post from the dead, but where did you find the correct resistor(s)? I have been looking around and cannot find any.
